​Welcome! ¡Bienvenidas/os! My name is Alicia Reyes-Barriéntez, and I am a postdoctoral fellow at the SMU Tower Center for Political Studies and a Policy Institute Fellow at the Latino Center for Leadership Development. My research examines religion as a potential cleavage in the political beliefs and behaviors of Latinas/os.  I have a B.A. in Latin American Studies and Spanish (2005) and an M.A. in Spanish (2007) from Baylor University, and an M.A. in Political Science from Duke University (2012). I successfully defended my dissertation this past month (October 2016), and I will graduate from Duke this December. I am a child of the U.S./Mexico borderlands.
